Kyoshi Island is famous for being the birthplace of not only Avatar Kyoshi, but Kyoshi Warriors as well (an elite, all-female fighting group). After the death of Avatar Roa, it was assumed that the Kyoshi Warriors would dismantle, as they no longer had contact with Avatar Kyoshi and it was presumed they would lose their fighting spirit. However, against popular belief, the battle ways of Kyoshi Warriors still remains and many still live on the island and practice the art. In modern day, Kyoshi Island is mostly cut-off from the remainder of the world, after laws restricting access to the island were established decades ago in order to stop any wars from reaching the island.
